Teresa Ruiz [teˈreˈsa ruˈis], (born December 21, 1986), is a mexican actress who has appeared in several mexican films.

Early life

Teresa Ruiz was born in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico.[1] grew up in Los Angeles California, later moving to El Paso, Texas. In 1999 Teresa Ruiz lived in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua and became an active member of Nuestras Hijas de Regreso a Casa A.C. ("May our Daughters Return Home, Civil Association") a non profit organization composed of mothers, family members, and friends of victims of the female homicides in Ciudad Juárez.[2]

Career

Ruiz studied at the Conservatory of Acting in Los Angeles California and subsequently at the Odin Teatret house of the International School of Theatre Anthropology founded by Eugenio Barba, who was a disciple of Jerzy Grotowski.[3]

In 2003 she was part of Margaret's Birthdate Wish presented at The International Theater Festival in Edinburgh Scotland as well as Agnes of God by John Pielmeir. In 2008 she presented "Frida" a "The New LATC" and at the International Cadiz Theater Festival in Spain, in Mexico City she was in "Carmen" Georges Bizet, at the Teatro Fru Fru.[4]

Her plays have been staged in different countries including: UK, Spain, Cuba, Denmark, United States and Mexico.

In Film Ruiz starred in Bienvenido Paisano a film that won great success among the Latin American community residing in the US, she appeared in the movie Bordertown starring Jennifer Lopez and Antonio Banderas

Her work includes Round Trip by Mexican director Gerardo Tort, for which she won several best actress awards such as the International Film Festival Guadalajara's "Silver Mayahuel" and the also the Prix d'interprétation féminine at the International Festival of Amiens in France and the India Catalina in Colombia; Teresa is also a nominee to Mexico´s Academy Award: Ariel. Ruiz also stars in Carlos Bolado's "Tlatelolco" and the remake of Marcelino Pan y Vino.

Is founder and Executive Partner of the production company Machete winner Camera DÒr at the 63 Cannes film festival.

Controversial Films

Ruiz has movies where nudity or explicit sex scenes take great part such as Leap Year. It also occurs in a scene of Roundtrip where she has a partially erotic scene with a woman, apart from a scene where she kisses another woman.
